Stop The Spread

Pup-Play in the midst of COVID-19

All of us here at The Tail Haven are committed to doing everything we can to ensure our facilities stay safe and healthy points of contact for our essential workers, our community, and for our staff in these uncertain times.

Fast-Track Registration for New Clients

If you or someone you know is NEW to our facility and find yourself in need of pet-care (for any reason) during the COVID-19 pandemic, please reach out directly to see what we can do to assist. The Tail Haven is temporarily waiving all temperament screens for all first time clients, and Fast-Tracking New-Client Registration for anyone who may need emergency pet-care. Pick-Up & Drop-Off Services

In an effort to better support our community through the COVID-19 pandemic, The Tail Haven is also going to be piloting Pick-Up and Drop-Off services at each of our facilities. There is obviously a great deal of uncertainty to navigate with the quick progression of the COVID-19 pandemic; however, at this time we feel this is one of the best ways we can support our community in a safe and responsible way. Our Pick-Up and Drop-Off services will be available to all clients who are able to commitment to at least 2 days of service per week on a regular schedule. If this is you, and you are interested in more information about these services, please take a few minutes to fill out our Pick-Up & Drop-Off Registration Form so we can better assess the interest and demand for this service.

In the mean time - here are a few of the other ways in which we are here to support you, and some Pet-Specific tips and precautions we can share to help all of us do our pup-loving part to Stop The Spread:

Curb-Side Check-In

Our regular operations at The Tail Haven already require minimal physical contact with our human clients, but in an effort to take this to the next level, we are going to be asking our staff to meet all of you outside of our buildings for what we are calling "Curb-Side" check-in. This simple step virtually eliminates the need for you to come into physical contact with any part of person or property.

Temporary Hourly Service Rates

We are also making an effort to be more flexible in our service offering to better meet the changing needs of a temporary situation. Effective immediately, all existing clients may drop off for day care on an hourly basis at 10$/hour if you need day care for less than our normal half day minimum.

Screening for Potential COVID-19 Contact or Spread

Please let us know if anyone in your family is sick or showing symptoms before bringing your pet in for day-care or boarding so we can make special arrangements if needed. We are doing our best at the front desk to ask these questions and make safe arrangements to provide services where needed. Please also see our additional pet-related recommendations for sanitizing and including your pet in social-isolation practices below.
*If you or anyone in your family is feeling unwell your pup will receive a free bath upon drop off before engaging in group-play.

Washing Hands and Social Distancing

Tail Haven Staff are being asked to wash their hands with soap and water per CDC guidelines before beginning work and frequently throughout the day. We are ALSO asking them to refrain from shaking hands or touching clients during pick up and drop off times. Please do not hold this against us! We promise to put this extra love and touch into your pets!

Well . . . Actually . . . Let's Just Wash Everything.

Here at The Tail Haven we have increased our daily cleaning schedule to take all possible measures to sterilize all lobby surfaces and potential points of human contact multiple times a day with 10% bleach solution (including gates, doorknobs, counter surfaces etc.)

Don't forget to sterilize your pet's leashes!

For those of us with dogs, our pet's leash is often second to our keys, phone, even the bottom of our shoes when it comes to how often we think about washing it . . . For this reason, we are now asking you (respectfully) to KEEP your leashes when dropping off for day-care or boarding at our facilities. If you do need to leave a leash with us, or hand it off to someone else for that matter, consider running it through the dishwasher on a "sterilize" cycle, or when in doubt . . . wash with soap and water and then boil it for a few minutes to kill virtually everything (I am not an expert - just an old school "when-in-doubt-boil-it-to-death" kind of girl  - this said, please refer to the MOST UP TO DATE CDC CLEAN & DISINFECT guidelines for cleaning and disinfecting against COVID-19).

Scrub-A-Dub-Dub, Get That Dog In The TUB!

Remember that while your pup is not likely to be a carrier of COVID-19, they do have a great deal of "surface area" that the virus can hang out on.  PLEASE INCLUDE YOUR PET IN SOCIAL DISTANCING MEASURES WITH OTHER HUMANS.  If you allow someone to pet your pup, remember you may end up needing to wash them as frequently as you are washing your hands!  Obviously this is a bit impractical . . . so the reality is, now more than ever, all of us humans really need to try to keep our hands to our own pups!
